Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026 · Effective for the GrabPrompt Chrome extension and this website.

GrabPrompt is built to be local-first. We designed it so you can generate AI-ready prompts from text you select — without sending that text to us.

1. Summary

  • No accounts on GrabPrompt servers (there is no GrabPrompt cloud backend for prompts).
  • No tracking SDKs, no analytics pixels, no advertising identifiers in the extension.
  • No sale of data. We do not sell personal information.
  • Prompt generation runs on your device using local templates.

2. What data stays on your device

The extension may store the following only in Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your computer:

  • Recently selected or pasted source text (so the side panel can show it)
  • Generated prompt drafts in the current session UI
  • Daily free-usage counter and date (to enforce the free limit)
  • Theme preference (light / dark)
  • Optional Pro unlock flag after purchase / license flow
  • Short-lived “pending prompt” data used only to open an AI site

This data does not leave your browser via GrabPrompt. Clearing site data for the extension or reinstalling removes it.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not operate a GrabPrompt analytics pipeline for browsing history.
  • We do not log the pages you visit or the text you select.
  • We do not train AI models on your content.
  • We do not require you to create a GrabPrompt user profile to use Free.

4. Third-party AI sites

When you choose Insert into AI, GrabPrompt may open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, or similar services in a new tab and may copy text to your clipboard. Those services are independent. Their privacy policies apply to anything you paste or submit there. GrabPrompt does not control how those companies process prompts you send them.

5. Payments (Pro)

Pro purchases are processed by Stripe via a Payment Link (placeholder during development: buy.stripe.com/…). Stripe may collect payment details and billing information under Stripe’s own privacy policy. GrabPrompt does not receive or store your full card number.

6. Chrome permissions (why we ask)

The extension requests only what it needs:

  • storage — save local preferences, free daily usage, and temporary selection text.
  • contextMenus — “Create AI Prompt with GrabPrompt” on selected text.
  • activeTab & scripting — interact with the current tab after you act (e.g. open AI, best-effort insert on some sites).
  • sidePanel — show the GrabPrompt side panel UI.
  • Host access (limited) — used only for Claude / Gemini helper scripts when you explicitly insert there; not for surveillance of all browsing.

A content script may run on web pages to show the floating GrabPrompt button near your selection. It does not phone home.

7. This website

The GrabPrompt marketing pages (landing and privacy) are static files. They do not require login. Your browser may still send standard technical data to whatever host serves the files (IP address, user agent) — that is normal web hosting behavior, not GrabPrompt product analytics inside the extension.

Theme preference for this website may be saved in localStorage in your browser (grabprompt-theme) so light/dark mode persists.

8. Children

GrabPrompt is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not use the extension if you are under that age.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the revised policy.

10. Contact

For privacy questions about GrabPrompt, contact the developer through the distribution channel you used (Chrome Web Store listing support email, or the project owner’s published contact).
